The happy list...
A conversation one morning in the car as I drop off Winkie...
Me : Winkie, are you happy?
Winkie : Yeah! I am!
*Great! * I think.
Me : So what makes you happy?
Winkie : Mmmmm. When I lie on the floor and Thambi comes to lick me, I feel happy.
*Awwwww*
Me : What else?
Winkie : Walking to the park with all my friends.
*siiiiiggghhhhh*
Me : What else Winkie? Keep going.
He is thoroughly in the groove now. And he comes up with a long list...
Playing bat and ball with Appa.
Eating desserts and treats after lunch.
Playing guns with Abhishek in school. (His best friend, and guns made with blocks!)
Putting on my helmet, and knee pad and arm pad and going on the cycle.
Going to Downtown on the Metra train.
Sleeping! (Yes, he actually said that. He has his priorities straight already, this guy!)
Having a birthday party for myself! (This was right after the one we had for Thambi's.)
Watching DVDs from the library and Blockbuster.
Making circle bridge on the train tracks.
Going by the list, he is a pretty happy little guy, because these are the routine everyday things he does, so it looks like happiness is a soundtrack of his life!
And on that note, I leave you with a little joke he cracked, only yesterday.
We were back from school, and I asked him to put his lunchbag in the sink, like I normally do. He stopped, looked at me and said...Don't say that silly word Amma.
Huh?... What did I say now?
You said...put the lunchbag in the sink. Say lunchbox. Otherwise the bag will get wet!
Can I patent that into a quote?

So innocent :-) The little guy knows what makes him happy!!! Love it where he says he is happy when Thambi licks his face..
smarty little pants! :-)
Happy Camper Winks, I love this kid!
About the lunch bag - my aunt complained of the same thing with her grand daughter - she says lunch bag and water bag instead of lunch box and water bottle - she says her grand daughter (here in the US) keeps correcting her all the time! Must be our Indian school habit!
I liked your question in the first place. Of course the answer too.
Hey, great that I chanced upon your blog!! Winkie is a smartie, isnt he? :)
That was so very lovely, Tharini. I am going to ask the brat the same questions and lets see what he has to say...
I'm going to ask myself that question & hope I have a list that's as long! :)
wow!
Let me ask this question to my kids and see :) The teenage versions I am sure will be very colourful and not-so-simple :)
Ain't it great to be a kid?!!! Simple things just make you happy. As we grow up, we some how unlearn this, I wonder how?!
Great kid you've got, Tharini. Winkie is so cute and innocent, just like how he should be :) I'm going to ask the brat about the things that makes him happy. You've triggered a great blog, and probably you should tag people so that they get to know more about their own kids :)
you know two Q&As down th eline.. I asked myself that and my list is so, so short. Ah to be a kid again. And the last line was simply awsome. "Don't use that silly word" Indeed :D
He does sound like a happy camper. I can't wait for Naren to start talking...and oh, yes, I think you can patent it.
god bless him!
